Point Blank... It's the BIGGEST concert series of the Summer EVERY Summer & offers SOMETHING for EVERYONE Literally. The Essence Music Festival, known as the party with a purpose, is one of the nations largest annual African-American events and gathering of musical talent in the world. This multi-generational Festival offers concerts by night and free Empowerment Seminars during the day. The nightly concerts present Festival goers with the opportunity to dance and sing along with the biggest names in entertainment, rhythm and blues, jazz, classic soul, hip-hop and neosoul, within the Louisiana Superdome.
 
The daily Empowerment Seminars feature renowned speakers, authors and national leaders and are held in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The Convention Center is also home to the Essence Marketplace.
 
In the Essence Marketplace artists from throughout the country offer an array of quality arts and crafts that mirror the rich cultural heritage seen throughout the African Diaspora, as well as Louisiana cuisine, sponsor activities, festival souvenirs and a book fair with author book signings.

The Festival Staff normally announces the artist throughout the year. So when you sign up for the newsletter we will email you as the lineup is announced. However in the past artist like Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott, LL Cool J, Beyonce, Trey Songz, TI, Gladys Knight, Frankie Beverly & Maze have appeared in the past at the Essence Music Festival. Should you wait until the lineup is complete before I book my hotel room?
- If you do you will be out of gas! One thing to know, this event is a sell out every year! Some people attend for the concerts other attended because of the family reunion appeal. Either way you need to book your hotel (at least) now. We offer the famous $19.99 booking option to help with the planning.
